SESSION 1: The Time of the Body

In this session, we explore time as both a medium and a site in performance art, focusing on durational approaches that have shaped the form. Time is not just a measure, but raw material that interacts with the body’s own rhythms—the heartbeat, breath, and movement. How do we perceive and express time through these sensations, and how can they transform our performance practice?

SESSION 2: Of Land and Place

In this session, we examine the role of land and place in performance art, where site, territory, and environment become central elements. Artists engage with history, geopolitics, and the poetics of place through inhabiting and intervening in specific locations. We’ll explore what it means to be here and now, while reflecting on what has come before and what lies ahead. What can we learn from the land, honor its history, and express our connection to it in our performance practice?

SESSION 4: Together Doings

In this session, we explore the power of collaboration in performance art, where artists work with each other, or with participants to expand and redefine the boundaries of body and self. Through collective actions and shared experiences, we engage with notions of the collective, the multitude, and alternative ways of being. How can collaboration transform our understanding of the body, and how does working together enhance the creative process?

To feel into the body, to fall into the process is to witness, to surrender—allowing the body to lead while the mind gently follows.

Guadalupe Martinez

I’m an artist and educator passionate about blending creative processes with embodied learning. My work reflects a deep interest in sensorial aesthetics and expansive pedagogies, exploring how creative practices can foster wisdom, healing, and collective connection. I’m the creator of CUERPO collective-body, a fluid project that integrates performance art, movement, touch, and mentorship to transform art production and education. Through my work, I aim to create spaces that honor the body, intimacy, and human connection—places where we can expand how we relate to ourselves, each other, and the world. I earned my Bachelor in Fine Arta from the National University of Arts in Buenos Aires and my MFA from the University of British Columbia, where I have been a Sessional Lecturer in Performance Art since 2017. I also hold certifications in Ontological Coaching (with honours) from Newfield Consulting in Chile and Creative Arts Therapy (Level 1) from Natalie Roger's program in Argentina, and have taken workshops with renowned artists such as Marina Abramovich and Pocha Nostra Collective. I have devoted my life to spiritual practices and profound embodied explorations with healers and teachers around the world. My work has been shown internationally at venues like the Vancouver Art Gallery, SFU Art Gallery, Or Gallery, Access Gallery, VIVO Media Arts Centre, and Griffin Art Projects, as well as in exhibitions across Argentina, the US, Italy, Mexico, and Canada.I have been teaching, offering talks, and workshops around the world since 2014, and I am thrilled to now share this path with you!
